Restauration Returns to Randaberg – History and Film

On September 15, the documentary film Restauration – In the Wake of the Emigrants will be shown at VAREN Cultural Stage in Randaberg.

The film, produced by GHM Film, tells the story of Restauration and the 54 people who sailed from Stavanger to North America in 1825.

The story also has a strong connection to Randaberg. Two of the travelers, the Madland siblings, went ashore in Dusavik and thus became part of the story of both those who left and those who stayed behind.

200 Years Later

In 2025, the story was brought back to life through Restauration Crossings200, when the vessel Restauration sailed from Stavanger to New York, with a stop in Dusavik, Randaberg.

Randaberg played an important role in the 200th-anniversary celebrations, and many local residents, businesses, organizations, music, choir and volunteers helped make the event a success.

Now the story of Restauration returns to Randaberg – on the big screen.

Randaberg History Association, in collaboration with the Restauration Friends Association, will host activities in the foyer before the film screening (Norwegian version).
These include a presentation of the America trunk, an educational project exploring the people, history, and values behind the 1825 emigration.
There will also be an opportunity to purchase souvenirs, as well as a cup of Sailor Roast coffee, specially developed in connection with Restauration's 2025 voyage.
