Voyage July 4 – October 9, Crossings200

Arrival October 9,
Departure July 4, 2025

Upon its arrival in New York City on October 9, the Restauration was welcomed by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon, along with many Norwegians and Norwegian-Americans. See what happened in New York City then.

It was a grand public celebration on July 4 when the 200th anniversary of the historic departure of the Restauration was commemorated in Stavanger.
Accompanied by the Royal Yacht and three generations of the royal family—on Her Majesty Queen Sonja’s 88th birthday.

The voyage’s high patron, Liv Ullmann, released the final mooring line as the iconic Restauration set sail on July 4, 2025, retracing the path of 1825—with a focus on old dreams and today’s realities. The themes of immigration and emigration reflect both who we were, and who we are today.

Friends Association

We are reliving the emigration to America

On July 4, 1825, the first Norwegian emigrants set sail from Stavanger to America aboard the sailing ship Restauration.

Two hundred years later, the Restauration Friends Association follows in their wake. On the very same day, two centuries later, we embark on the same journey – to honor their courage and share the story of those who built a bridge between Norway and America.

Join us in commemorating one of Norway’s greatest adventures.
