Two hundred years ago, this ship sailed to America for the dream of a better life.
Departure on July 4, 2025
There will be a event in Vågen in Stavanger when Restauration embarks on its historic journey across the sea — just like 200 years ago. Just before departure at 12:45 p.m., there will be a solemn ceremony with speeches and culture. His Majesty King Harald and Her Majesty Queen Sonja arrive. The ship's high patron, Liv Ullmann, will also attend. The celebration continues throughout the day with music, activities and the musical “The Promising Land” in the Concert Hall. Programs are coming.

We are reliving the emigration to America
On July 4, 1825, the first Norwegian emigrants set sail from Stavanger to America aboard the sailing ship Restauration.
Two hundred years later, the Restauration Friends Association follows in their wake. On the very same day, two centuries later, we embark on the same journey – to honor their courage and share the story of those who built a bridge between Norway and America.
Join us in commemorating one of Norway’s greatest adventures.
