Sound Of Ancient Times

The Sound of Antiquity ensemble has brought the bronze clocks back to European musical life after a hiatus of 3,000 years. In 2013, authentic replicas were cast in Copenhagen and the ensemble Klang av Oldtid was established. The bronze clocks are accompanied by jew’s horns, singing and percussion, and the repertoire has been developed in close collaboration with composers. Norse mythology is used, electronics, improvisation and communication about ancient times are a recognizable pattern in the concerts.

Impressive costumes copied from archaeological finds are part of our trademark, the ensemble has released three CDs: “Bronselur” in 2015, ‘Tunesteinen’ in 2018 and ‘Trollfjell’ in 2023.

Klang av Oldtid has received a great response throughout the Nordic region. We contributed to the Regent’s Jubilee in 2016, the National Assembly Jubilee in 2022 and look forward to the Emigration Jubilee in 2025. iKlang av Oldtid has ensemble support from the Arts Council Norway.
