Historical documentary about Restauration and Restauration Crossings200
Restaurationens Venneforening has entered into a collaboration with Stavanger-based GHM Film AS, represented by producer Geir Mæland, with the aim of producing a documentary series that sheds light on Restauration’s unique place in Norwegian emigrant history. The documentary, “The New Land”, will tell the story of the original emigrant ship Restauration, which set sail for America in 1825, and provide an insight into Restauration Crossings200, the modern commemoration of this journey.
A journey through history and the present
Through authentic footage from the Restauration Crossings200 voyage and historical material from Venneforeningen’s archives, the documentary will take the audience on a double journey through time – back to the first Norwegian emigrants’ perilous journey across the Atlantic and to today’s engaging commemoration of their dream of a new life.
Goals and distribution
The documentary will give a vivid picture of the Restauration’s role in Norwegian emigration history, while following the ship’s significance today. Kristian Landmark and Ole Bernt Tellefsen will write and direct the documentary, both of whom have extensive experience from similar productions that have been shown on NRK.
We look forward to sharing this historical narrative and documentation of the Restoration Crossings200 voyage with the public. Stay tuned to our website for more information about the progress!
