Ein plass i verda historisk syngespill perioden 1795 - 1825 Ryfylke

A Place in the World. Historical musical drama.

Ein plass i verda / A Place in the World is a historical musical drama that tells the story of the time when the “coastal towns” grew along the entire coast of Norway, from 1795 to 1825. Think of it as a musical history lesson about why 1814 happened and why 800,000 Norwegians sought their fortune in America.

Brita and Lukas in A Place in the World Historical Musical Drama – Main Characters

Watch the video with some music and an interview recorded aboard the Restauration.

The musical drama is about “Brita from Bryggjå & Lukas from Himlaleite” – two characters who could have lived. They first met as children in 1795 when Lukas went to sea as a cargo boy. Brita stayed behind as an abandoned child at Bryggja.

In the performance, we follow them when they finally meet again in 1825, at the same pier where they said goodbye thirty years earlier.

The two have done well – he is a captain of his own ship, and she is a successful businesswoman in the coastal town. In words and music, they share stories of life and living in Europe and Norway. Kvitsøy and Mosterøy, like most coastal towns in Ryfylke, are places where Brita & Lukas could have met.
