The preparations are ongoing with an ENORMOUS amount of volunteer work.
Approximately 600 hours are currently being carried out EVERY week as unpaid voluntary community work by members of the Restauration Friends Association.
Now, in this hectic final phase of getting the ship ready, planning + + +:

  • The engine room is being completely rebuilt with a new electric battery hybrid propulsion system being installed:

  • A lot of equipment is being placed and installed, with work taking place on deck and in the rig:

  • Beautiful handcrafted products are being made, and visible technical installations are being hidden as much as possible to ensure the ship shines and looks as beautiful as possible on July 4th.
When the voyage begins, exactly 200 years since the last time Restauration sailed from the city of Stavanger in Norway:
  • A large collection of sustainable clothing for the voyage, made from used tarps, bed linens, curtains, carpets, etc., is now ready for the crew and guests at the departure. Designed and sewn by the municipal work activity center Arak:

External Contributors:

  • Private individuals who are Norwegian-Americans and the public sector who understand the scope and significance of this new voyage for the anniversary and the commemoration of the close bonds between the people of Norway and North America – as well as how and why this story is so relevant for us today – are now taking responsibility and contributing to ensuring a safe crossing of the Atlantic.
    And we need many more!
